What is Urdu Virtual Keyboard?
The Urdu Virtual Keyboard lets you type Urdu characters by clicking visible keys on the page. It is particularly practical on a computer that has no Urdu keyboard layout installed. The editor also accepts ordinary typing and provides Urdu digits, punctuation, and a switch to an English on-screen layout for mixed-language text. The letters you choose are placed at the current cursor position in the editor, so you can go back and correct a word rather than starting again.
The editor includes font, size, alignment, and emphasis controls to help you preview writing while you work. For reliable reuse in another application, copy the actual Unicode text or download it as a plain text file. If you export a PDF, inspect the saved file: PDF fonts can render Urdu differently from the browser, especially for joined letters and Nastaliq shaping.
How to use it (step by step)
Click inside the text area where the next character should appear. Select an Urdu letter from the rows of keys; use the on-screen Space key between words and Delete to remove a character before the cursor.
Use the number row for Urdu digits and the punctuation row for marks such as ؟ and ،. If you need an English word in the same passage, switch the letter layout to English and switch back afterward.
Adjust font size or appearance to make the passage easier to read. Check the character and word totals beneath the editor. Formatting previews affect presentation, while the underlying text remains ordinary characters.
Copy the text to paste into another app, download TXT for plain Unicode, or use Print. If you choose PDF, open the downloaded file and verify its Urdu characters before relying on it. Clear removes the current passage.
Examples
آپ کا نام کیا ہے؟
Use the Urdu question mark at the end of this question instead of an English question mark if you prefer Urdu punctuation.

The Urdu comma ، separates the city and country in this sample address.
آج ۲۵ تاریخ ہے۔
The number row inserts Urdu digits into otherwise ordinary Unicode text.
Benefits / who it is for
A learner can practice letter shapes without installing a system layout. Someone using a shared computer can write a short note in Urdu directly in the browser. An editor can insert a missing character into an existing sentence by placing the cursor precisely. These tasks call for direct control over letters, unlike Roman Urdu transliteration, where a suggestion service guesses what your Latin spelling means.
For a lengthy passage, copy the text into your usual writing application and save it there. This page is an editor, not permanent document storage. If the characters are correct but the sentence sounds unnatural, a grammar review or dictionary lookup may help more than choosing another keyboard key.
FAQ

No. Click the on-screen Urdu keys in your browser; you can also type directly into the editor.
Can I mix Urdu and English?
Yes. Switch the on-screen letter layout when you need English characters in the same passage.
Will TXT keep Urdu characters?
Yes. The download is a UTF-8 plain text file; open it in a program that supports Unicode Urdu.
Why does my PDF look different?
The PDF export uses a basic font and may not shape Urdu as the browser does. Always inspect the PDF after export.
Does this translate my English sentence?
No. It enters characters you select. Use the English to Urdu translator to translate meaning.
